Scale AI's Alexandr Wang shares full bot prompt that auto-blocks travel time on your calendar
alexandr_wang · x · 2026-09-19
Alexandr Wang amplifies a practical agent prompt, "travel-time-buddy", that turns your bot into a calendar guardian: it scans 14 days ahead, detects meetings at locations different from your workplace, and inserts to/from travel buffer blocks using live Maps ETA.
Key design details:
- Skips video calls, vague locations, and days you're already at the workplace; asks one clarifying question when unsure, then stops
- Buffers are titled "Travel time" with metadata in the description; collisions with hard commitments trigger a question instead of silent overwrite
- If you manually edit a buffer, the bot treats that as policy for that event
- Onboarding asks once for addresses, WFH signals, calendars, and default travel mode
Author trevin notes he tried building this as an app last year but gave up after 6+ months stuck in Google's approval process — now a prompt does the job. Full prompt is open-sourced on Energon.
