Speaking to CNBC, Alex Karp argued that AI labs pushing for regulation are really aiming to nationalize the industry so that lawsuits over AI harms land on the government rather than the companies themselves. He advocates the opposite path: making AI developers bear real civil and criminal liability. Worth noting the conflict of interest — Palantir sells compliance software that becomes more valuable under his narrative, so this stance is hardly neutral.
