OpenShorts: self-hosted AI UGC video studio goes open source, clips from 65 cents each

OpenShorts bundles three AI video tools into a self-hosted platform that runs in Docker on your own machine—no watermarks, upload caps, or subscription; you pay API providers directly, and clipping runs on Gemini's free tier. Now at 5.1k stars, grown from a fork of a vertical autocrop tool.
- Long-video clipping: Gemini picks the 3–15 most attention-holding moments from transcripts, YOLOv8 face-tracks the speaker for vertical crops, Whisper burns in word-level subtitles.
- AI-actor marketing videos: paste a product URL and it writes a script, generates a presenter with Flux, voices it with ElevenLabs, lip-syncs, adds b-roll and subtitles—about 65 cents per video on the cheap pipeline, $2 on premium.
- YouTube kit: face-swap thumbnails, 10 chat-refinable title options, chaptered descriptions, one-click publishing.
Ships with an MCP server and API so agents can drive it.
