Open-source desk robot Sudo launches: self-hosted AI, $0 subscription, 25 founder units

Indie maker Krishna Bansal spent nearly a year building Sudo, a small open-source desk robot that talks back, plays chess, and remembers you locally. Preorders are live with 25 Founder's Edition units at ₹8,999 including lifetime cloud access.

Sudo ships a full voice pipeline, an open personality you can tweak, and a mods ecosystem for wiring in tools like Spotify and focus sessions. The AI is self-hostable, runs on a free API tier, or on their cloud — with no subscription fee. The team says the personality engine and SDK are the core differentiators.
