8 AI personal agents, zero successful SMS — 10DLC is the blocker

A Reddit user asked 8 AI personal agents (Poke, Tomo, Pally, Orchid and others) to send a simple SMS to a friend. Every one refused. The bottleneck isn't model capability but telecom regulation: these agents run on VoIP/A2P numbers, and 10DLC rules block app-to-person messages to arbitrary recipients without brand and campaign registration.
Workarounds offered included iMessage forwarding via a Mac, group chats, or email — but none could send a plain SMS. The author concludes the "agent that acts for you" promise quietly breaks at the phone layer, and his fix was giving each agent a real carrier number so it can text and call anyone like a human would.
