Legatus v0.1: open-source transport-independent coordination protocol for delegated agent work

sierracatalina · x · 2026-09-18

sierracatalina open-sourced Legatus v0.1 (MIT), a transport-independent coordination protocol for delegated work. It defines a signed envelope, shared logical clock, typed state transitions, deterministic errors, recovery rules, and a causal transcript format. The core state machine has seven in-band moves: delegate, handoff, approve, fail, retry, cancel, and resume. Adding or renaming moves requires a protocol version bump; negotiation and access-grant lifecycle stay outside the machine. Ships with conformance tests, schemas, and specs — a clean protocol layer for multi-agent delegated workflows.
