- Even with an intact repo, the important parts live in prompts, evals, tool integrations, memory/state setup, deployment configs, and undocumented decisions
- A new developer can get the code running without understanding why the agent behaves as it does, or which edge cases the original team worked around
- Projects often depend on specific models, private infrastructure, and knowledge that existed only in the original developer's head
They ask: could someone pick up your shelved agent project from the repo and docs, or archive it, open-source it, hand it over, or shut it down?
