25M tokens later, a local Qwen user says prompt adherence is the real breakthrough

mateszhun · reddit · 2026-09-18

Reddit user mateszhun ran Qwen locally for hobby projects, generating 25M tokens since release. Findings: exceptional prompt adherence — it did exactly what was asked in solo runs, going astray only once when a too-high-level task filled the context window (weak context compaction, possibly the Q4 quant). With subagents, research, planning, review and testing prompts, it handles medium-complexity tasks independently. His verdict: it raises the floor of what he expects from a model — not breakthrough-capable, but extremely consistent, which is exactly the direction coding models should improve.
