Indie dev: we keep $1 of every $100 in LLM revenue — a pure Jevons paradox bet
multiply_matrix · x · 2026-09-18
An indie developer explains their product is "100% a bet on Jevons paradox": margins are positive but razor-thin — every $100 taken from an LLM user nets about $1, and less than half of LLM traffic is compatible with their interface. If AI consumption stays stagnant, revenue will be tiny.
The bet: once automation is reliable and cheap enough, deployers are incentivized to run ever more things through their "value machines," and the market grows larger than before — Jevons paradox applied to cheap intelligence.
