Security researcher on air-gapped systems: acoustic and RF side channels can still leak data

A security practitioner discusses data exfiltration risks in air-gapped systems: speakers and microphones are the easiest covert channel (which is why modern air-gapped setups remove them), but not the only one — RF monitoring through copper cables via tampered NIC drivers has also been attempted. The author notes there are more ways to transfer data across air-gapped networks, some not public, and suggests such mechanisms could even let agents communicate.
