Hackers reset French blood service freezers from -30°C to 110°C in supply-chain cyberattack

Security researcher Lukasz Olejnik disclosed a cyberattack on France's national blood service (EFS) via its refrigeration contractor Coolworld: hackers reset freezers holding donor samples from -30°C to a target of 110°C, with transfusion plasma stored inside. Only an on-call technician noticing the temperature rise prevented destruction. AI policy researcher Luiza Jarovsky calls it a disaster, arguing AI safety has become priority one and urging minimum safety standards for AI development plus protection of existing IT systems.
