Huawei's Eric Xu: Six or Seven Chinese AI Labs Target 10T-40T Parameter Models in Two Years

Huawei is getting increasingly vocal about its AI roadmap, inviting foreign media to its flagship Shanghai tech conference for the first time in years. Rotating chairman Eric Xu said Chinese researchers need to "increase the speed of development so they can also see the dangers of AI development," like their US counterparts. He added that at least six or seven Chinese AI labs aim to train models with 10 trillion to 40 trillion parameters over the next two years — a significant jump from current model sizes in China.
