X algorithm update: "watched" video signal drops to zero, tap-to-open weight rises to 0.07

X pushed a new version of its open source For You feed algorithm (xai-org/x-algorithm, 33.2k stars). A developer ran both versions through Claude and compared them:
- The "watched it" signal dropped from 0.05 to 0 — simply being watched no longer scores.
- Tap-to-open weight rose from 0.05 to 0.07.
Implication: the thumbnail and the first second of a video matter more than ever; completion no longer earns recommendation credit, triggering an open does.
