Swiss Re study: Waymo's robotaxis cut property damage claims 88% and injury claims 92% vs humans

Swiss Re, one of the world's leading reinsurers, analyzed liability claims across 25.3 million fully autonomous miles driven by Waymo and found property damage claims down 88% and bodily injury claims down 92% versus human-driven vehicles.
Translated into safety terms, Waymo is roughly 10.4x safer than humans (8.3x on property damage, 12.5x on bodily injury). Since the project began as Google's Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, its safety factor has compounded at 16.9% a year — doubling roughly every five years.
The data carries extra weight because it comes from insurers, whose premium pricing is a real-money verdict on safety. Garry Tan shared it with the take that the future is already here and the job is spreading it faster.
