HF releases Papers with Code MCP server, wiring coding agents into research search
NielsRogge · x · 2026-09-17
- Hugging Face's NielsRogge open-sourced a Papers with Code MCP server (repo pwc-cli), shipped alongside a CLI and a Skill for coding agents.
- The server exposes an anonymous, read-only, agent-native interface over Streamable HTTP, with one tool per research command: papers search, related work, lineage, tasks, methods, conferences, organizations, frameworks, benchmarks, and filtered SOTA leaderboards.
- Run locally with uv run --project mcpserver pwc-mcp.
- He demoed Claude Code researching the architecture of Jev via the searchpapers tool, notes an MCP is easier to work with than a CLI, and says it now powers the chat interface on Papers with Code.
