- Capability pacing: Chinese labs trail US labs by roughly 6-9 months, so they see fewer "unexpected" capability jumps
- Product orientation: Chinese labs are notably more product-focused and less "AGI-pilled"
- Safety stance: safety and societal concerns are viewed as government matters the labs feel they can't influence, hence their relative public silence
