NetEase Youdao open-sources Confucius4-R2T2, a streaming ASR with 80ms decode chunks
dr_cintas · x · 2026-09-17
NetEase Youdao has open-sourced Confucius4-R2T2, a low-latency, high-accuracy true streaming ASR model, on GitHub and Hugging Face.
- Fine-grained, configurable decode chunks from 80ms to 2s
- Append-only output: committed transcript text is never revised, eliminating text flicker in live captioning
- Aimed at real-time captioning, downstream NLP/LLM agent pipelines, and simultaneous translation
- vLLM backend, built for voice agents, ships with WebSocket server/client and example scripts
The author's framing: the field chases "predict faster," but the harder skill is knowing when a prediction is premature and would cost more downstream than a short pause.
