Anthropic Merges Cowork Into Chat as Unified Claude Entry

创业邦 · wechat · 2026-09-17

Anthropic has merged Claude Cowork and Chat into a single unified Claude entry point. Users no longer have to decide whether a task goes to Chat or Cowork: Claude judges task complexity itself and calls the right capability, continuing to work in the background after you close your laptop. Existing conversations, Skills and connectors are preserved. The unified version rolls out to Pro and Max in the coming weeks.

The chat interface becomes an all-in-one creation space: Claude Docs drafts documents, Claude Slides turns them into decks, and Claude Design generates visuals and UI prototypes in the same workspace, all sharing one context with pixel-level editing, inline comments and drag-and-drop, plus export or link sharing. The piece frames this as a Harness rebuild, with agents shifting from a special feature to the base architecture of AI products.

It also notes OpenAI folding Codex into ChatGPT, Google embedding Gemini across Gmail, Docs and Workspace, and ByteDance's Doubao consolidating resources — all racing for the new OS-like entry point of the AI era.
