Google's EU Search Degrades Direct Results for Hotels, Flights — Company Calls It Biggest Service Quality Drop Ever

To comply with EU regulations, Google disabled search features in Europe: direct results for hotels, restaurants, and flights have vanished from search. Google itself calls the changes the largest decline in service quality in its history — a consequence of regulation enforcement, not a bug.
The value now flows to booking portals: an oligopoly of platforms regains the direct customer relationship that search previously provided.
