Lenovo launches ThinkAgile VX850 V4 servers that let apps stay on VMware or Hyper-V

Lenovo announced the ThinkAgile VX850 V4 on September 16, built around a "new hardware, same software" pitch: existing mail, finance, and SAP virtual machines can stay on VMware or Hyper-V, with any hypervisor migration treated as an optional, separate project.
- The 2U box holds two or four Intel Xeon 6 processors, targets dense VM environments, large databases, analytics, and SAP HANA, and supports two large graphics cards
- Lenovo's "AI-ready" claim means spare capacity, restorable data, and a management view — not bundled AI software
- Scott Patti, head of Lenovo's infrastructure group, said customers want newer, more reliable machines while keeping software choice
