Nature study transplants human cortical organoids into mice with large-scale brain integration

A new Nature study introduces "developmental xenocortication": human cortical organoids were transplanted into mice whose endogenous cortex was largely genetically depleted, achieving extended large-scale integration of human brain tissue. The team recorded brain-wide activity of human cells in living mice.

Neuroscientist Adeel Razi, commenting for The Australian, called it an elegant and ambitious platform for studying biological intelligence, with profound implications for understanding human brain development and disease.
