Yacine mocks "autonomous research" hype as Naam argues RSI loop needs 5-10x boost to run away

Yacine mocked claims that research is autonomous: "claude please babysit this run. fix and relaunch if it dies." The cited essay by Ramez Naam argues that 0% of AI research inside Anthropic currently runs autonomously, and that based on measurable data, the AI self-improvement loop would need to be roughly 5-10x stronger to sustain itself, let alone trigger a runaway intelligence explosion. He expects rapid progress but sees no evidence of a fast takeoff to ASI, while stressing the field needs better data and openness to breakthroughs.
