AI slop is content that looks finished before anyone checked it—headings, citations, clean functions, confident tone, everything except proof a human verified it. Instead of a detector, use a 10-second sniff test: "If this were wrong, how fast could I catch it?" Slop is engineered so the answer is never, hiding in vagueness, symmetry, and fake precision. Real research carries ugly specifics (author, year, sample size); good code fails in specific ways, while slop wraps everything in bare exceptions and comments what lines do instead of why.
