Responding to @giffmana's quip, Cohere researcher suchenzang argues that high-status math letters (Fields, Royal Society) warning about the end of mathematics and x-risk doom are directionally bad for public hysteria and the future of STEM education. The reply sardonically notes that doom suddenly became "highly likely" once models can do math — apparently not when they could code, make art, or review contracts.
