OpenMuse: open-source sandboxed computer lets AI agents work without vendor lock-in

The author open-sourced the Muse app (built on CelestoAI/celesto, 938 GitHub stars): an open-source "computer coworker" agent that can browse the web, use apps, and keep working in the background even when your laptop is off.

Under the hood is SmolVM, which gives AI agents a secure, persistent, sandboxed local computer that humans can take over anytime. The project aims to avoid lock-in to a single model provider and is fully forkable and customizable, with modules covering the microVM kernel, guest agent, and UI.
