Mathematician-perspective: the claim AI could hurt math implies researchers can't self-govern

Keller Jordan, author of the open-source training framework series, weighs in on the claim that AI could make mathematics worse. He finds the worry itself revealing: it implicitly assumes mathematicians, as a community, are incapable of stopping themselves from behaviors harmful to their own field.
He notes it's normal for groups of humans to have limits in self-governance, but surprising that such an intelligent and prestigious group — arguably the most intelligent — would so quickly and implicitly throw in the towel over AI's impact on mathematics.
