Infinite Software: why AI ends software's age-old scarcity

The author argues the "infinite software" era has arrived. For most of software history the binding constraint was construction cost—expensive engineering teams, and every new product adding code, infrastructure, integrations and edge cases to maintain—so companies picked one problem and specialized. Entire categories (freight tracking, bookings, ERP, CRM, payments) existed because there "simply wasn't enough software to go around." AI, the author contends, changes software supply far more fundamentally than currently appreciated, ending that scarcity and reshaping how the industry divides up work.
