Anthropic merges Claude Cowork into chat, launches Claude Docs, Slides and in-chat Design
minchoi · x · 2026-09-17
Anthropic announced that Claude Cowork and chat are merging into one Claude: users no longer choose where a task belongs—hand Claude a question or a report due at noon and it continues even after the laptop closes. Three new features roll out in beta on paid plans (Enterprise admins control rollout):
- Claude Docs: collaborative document writing and direct editing in conversation
- Claude Slides: presentations drafted in chat, presentable from Claude or exportable to PowerPoint/PDF
- Claude Design: visual design now works inside conversations, with the standalone app unchanged
Anthropic says separate entry points forced users to pick where tasks belonged and broke context continuity; the merged experience brings Cowork and Design capabilities into any conversation with existing context, skills, and connectors. Rolling out to Pro and Max plans over the coming weeks.
