DHH's Omarchy Linux Distro Bakes AI Agents Into the OS, Tops 40,000 GitHub Stars

Omarchy, the opinionated Linux distribution by Ruby on Rails creator DHH, has passed 40,000 GitHub stars and 6,000 commits, and its reviewer calls it the first OS designed around the assumption that an AI agent lives on your machine.
- Ten coding agents wired in: Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Copilot, Grok and more ship as launchers (downloaded on first run); pick a default agent, open it with one hotkey, or fire tasks with a single command.
- Usage panel: the top bar tracks subscriptions, 5-hour session and weekly limits, and per-day/per-model token usage, refreshing every 15 minutes with multi-machine merging.
- Crash diagnosis: crash notifications hand the core dump plus a built-in skill to your agent, which decides whether the bug is worth reporting upstream.
- System-level skill: an Omarchy skill lets agents tweak configs, adjust the bar, or build themes from scratch. DHH advises running agents in plan mode first and being ready to roll back.
