Developer natebjones shared a multi-agent orchestration setup that saved over $2,000 in API costs in one weekend across a 68-agent build:
- Use Astra to plan the build
- Have Astra kick off a long-running Luna orchestrator
- Give Luna a handoff file with specific instructions for calling Astra sub-agents with clean context windows
- Spin up a fresh Astra 'bulldozer' agent to unblock/watch Luna
The core idea: only Luna holds the super long context window; Astra windows stay short and clean, so you avoid paying for big context on a big model — with quality still solid.
Bonus trick: tell Astra its plan will be executed by a 'junior dev who goes off rails' — the plan comes out far more precise.
