xAI officially released Grok Build, a local coding agent CLI powered by its newest model Grok 4.6, installable with a single curl command and free to try.
Key features:
- Cross-session memory: /memory to browse remembered conventions, decisions, and project facts; /dream organizes recent notes into topics — the agent gets better the more you use it
- Skills system: AGENTS.md, plugins, hooks, and MCP servers work out of the box, auto-invoked on matching tasks, plus /skillify to capture any session as a new skill
- Plan mode: edits are blocked until you approve a plan, with each approved change shown as a clean diff
- Marketplaces: bundle skills, agents, hooks, and MCP servers behind one install, self-hostable from any git repo, compatible with Linear, Sentry, Postgres, browsers, and more
