Google ships Gemini 3.8 Live, voice agents that reason while talking

Google released Gemini 3.8 Live and 3.8 Live Extended Thinking, built for voice agents that reason and talk simultaneously. Google's own numbers put Extended Thinking first on Artificial Analysis' speech-to-speech index and 97.7% on Big Bench Audio, though independent reruns are pending. The thread also notes labs planning AI-hacking defenses haven't brought in outside security experts.
