Founder Meredith Cheng recounts raising $13M for a proactive-agent vision: demos impressed rooms but the product never became part of anyone's day. She pivoted to a real pain point—messages piling up across WhatsApp, iMessage, and email, eating 50%+ of her day—and launched ToneBird, an AI assistant that keeps conversation history and relationship context (who you're talking to, what was discussed and promised) when drafting replies.
