Anthropic Merges Claude Cowork and Chat, Letting the Model Route Tasks

Anthropic engineer Cat Wu announced that Claude Cowork and chat are merging, with Claude Design integrated: users no longer pick which Claude product to use. Based on the prompt, Claude decides whether to give a quick answer, do deeper agentic work, and what output format fits best. Users can still stop, redirect, or fine-tune Claude's effort. Rolling out to Pro and Max over the coming weeks.
