Synthesia launches real-time Interactive Avatar API on LiveKit
synthesiaIO · x · 2026-09-16
Synthesia has launched its Interactive Avatar API: real-time avatars that listen, talk and respond inside your product. Embedding works via the LiveKit SDK — bring your own LLM, knowledge base and logic, while Synthesia handles the avatar layer of voice, face and lip-sync. Setup: pip install livekit-agents-synthesia, attach an AvatarSession to an existing agent (two lines), and the avatar joins your LiveKit room as a video participant. A Synthesia skill lets coding agents like Claude Code, Cursor and Copilot Workspace scaffold the integration automatically. Target use cases include AI sales reps, support agents, role-play training with rubric scoring via webhook, and kiosks; each user gets 500 free minutes.
