Factory Triples Valuation to $5B in Five Months: Why AI Coding Hype Has Legs
TansuYegen · x · 2026-09-16
Factory reportedly tripled its valuation to $5 billion in five months, and while some of that is AI market exuberance, the author argues the coding category has a solid foundation: developers adopt AI because it saves real time, and products are evolving from autocomplete toward agents handling larger parts of the software lifecycle.
The author cautions that not every coding agent company deserves a multibillion-dollar valuation, but wouldn't bet against the category itself—software development may be one of the first professions fundamentally redesigned around AI rather than merely assisted by it.
