Commenting on a layered datacenter design (roof batteries, power layer, NPUs, bottom cooling), the author points out visible rooftop cooling towers as evidence that datacenters are complex heavy machinery rather than simple warehouses.
He also notes the layered layout has an unexpected resilience property: under a drone strike the system can shut down while the compute remains salvageable — datacenter design now factors in physical security, not just GPU density.
