37-year-old non-coder builds DnD matchmaking site Tavernly with Claude Code
DopeDutchLemon · reddit · 2026-09-16
A 37-year-old self-described no-code developer (10 years building WordPress sites) shares Tavernly (tavernly.nl), a platform for Dutch/Belgian DnD/TTRPG players to find or create offline groups nearby — solving the daily "looking for group" spam on subreddits and Discord.
Stack: React 19 (Server Components + Server Actions), PostgreSQL + PostGIS, Drizzle ORM, Auth.js, Leaflet, deployed via Docker Compose on a VPS. The design deliberately avoids looking AI-generated: a book-style desktop layout, rope borders, material textures, even Claude-generated avatars.
His advice is unglamorous: no secret technique — understand what you're doing, make/read/understand the plan before implementing, and do daily security reviews. Things go sideways when you stop understanding your own code.
