Study: GenAI automation exposure cuts US wages and locks workers in place

An updated paper by joseazar and co-authors finds that exposure to GenAI automation has a negative effect on US wages (using BLS and Revelio data), while GenAI skills carry a positive wage premium. It also shows exposed workers quit and switch jobs less often, suggesting worse outside options, and that firms' monopsony power has grown over highly exposed workers.
