HHMI Janelia and Google Research released Male CNS v1.0, the first complete connectome of an adult male fruit fly — 166,000+ neurons across the central brain, optic lobes and ventral nerve cord. Within weeks hackers ported it into Minecraft, DOOM and Beat Saber, sparking 'digital life' debates, while developers clarify it's a computational simulation, not a mind upload.
