Driverless trucks hit Ohio roads: L3 on interstates, L4 piloting at 15 mph

Per Signal Ohio, Ohio saw its first autonomous deployments this summer: L3 trucks (with human backups in the cab) run between Indianapolis and Columbus, while fully driverless L4 vehicles are piloting 15 mph roads in a Marysville corporate park, with developers planning to expand.
The trucks and passenger vehicles rely on AI plus lidar and camera systems. Operators added purple lights to signal autonomous mode to law enforcement while avoiding attention from people who might stress-test the vehicles. The state still only allows fully self-driving cars for testing and research, so the public won't see them widely yet — but they hint at a major shift away from human-controlled driving.
