GitHub Copilot CLI v1.0.85 rolls out a batch of updates for the agentic coding workflow:
- Vim mode for everyone: enable modal editing via /vim or editorMode: vim, with the current mode shown while typing.
- Agent context management: new /settings toggles for context management tools on agents and subagents.
- Sandboxing improvements: /sandbox gains network host allow/deny rules that coexist with upstream proxies, a fix for the one-command sandbox bypass on Windows, and in-session disabling of managed sandbox sessions via an approved bypass prompt.
- Model support: adds GPT-6 Astra.
- Sessions & plugins: session/memory import for the semantic JSONL interchange format, a concise transcript view that groups tool activity into expandable summaries, a /config sidebar, and reworked enable/disable subcommands for plugins, MCP servers, and skills, plus -- output for list commands.
Stability fixes include preserving earlier messages when switching to background sessions, stopping unused clients from polling after failed session handoffs, and uniform rejection of invalid --add-dir paths.
