Tech community to hold OmFest in SF honoring the late Om Malik on his 60th birthday

After Om Malik's passing, his close friend and WordPress founder Matt Mullenweg proposed bringing together all of Om's worlds for what would have been his 60th birthday. The result is OmFest, a 12-hour gathering in San Francisco on September 29, 2026.
The day runs from morning photography and conversations through an evening of stories and a toast, ending with a DesiParty of Bhangra and electronica. Installations include a gallery of Om's photography, a wall of thread connecting guests, sixty hidden facts, a fountain-pen "Field Notes" table, and tea ceremonies — all reflecting his curiosity about photography, music, objects, and people.
Organizers note you don't need to have known Om to attend; space is limited and RSVP is via Luma.
