Ex-Meta PM launches Maven course on the seven failure modes that kill AI products
annetgriffin · x · 2026-09-16
Rachel Windzberg, a PM leader with 17+ years at Meta, Amazon and Datadog, is teaching The Seven Deaths of an AI Product on Maven, right after her first live Pearson training session.
Her core claim: most AI features added to existing products ship to a press release and die within a quarter — rarely because of the model. The real causes are economics nobody modeled, trust nobody protected, and decisions nobody owned. The 45-minute free lesson covers:
- Seven failure modes for AI features post-launch, plus early signals to watch
- Renewal-driven shipping: what separates AI features customers pay to keep from ones that get switched off
- Early checks: questions on economics, trust and ownership to ask before engineering spends a sprint
- Judgment as the biggest asset: AI sharpens strong judgment and worsens weak judgment
The session has 66 students registered so far and targets leaders adding AI to existing products.
