BetterGravity: open-source mod adds in-app browser and BYOK to Google Antigravity
Yashjit · reddit · 2026-09-16
A developer open-sourced BetterGravity (MIT), a client mod for Google Antigravity addressing three pain points: constant alt-tabbing to test localhost apps, quota caps with no BYOK, and no UI customization.
How it works:
- Antigravity serves its UI over a local loopback server (not patchable static Electron files), so the author built a runtime patcher that hooks the startup layer to inject plugins and CSS
- The in-app Chromium browser hooks Chrome DevTools Protocol + Windows UIAutomation, letting the agent autonomously browse, inspect DOM, and click alongside your code
- BYOK support: use your own Gemini API key and stream raw thinking tokens
- Redesigned Willow UI with Chat/Work/Skills/Scheduled Tasks tabs, plus 17+ animated pixel pets
- Reversible and safe: keeps backups, never touches local repos or credentials
