MIT CSAIL spinout G5 Labs emerges with $14M seed for AI-native software development

G5 Labs, a spinout from MIT's CSAIL, has raised a $14 million seed round co-led by Pillar VC and Battery Ventures, with participation from Omega VC, Encoded Ventures, and angels including Jeff Dean.

The company is building what it calls the post-developer era: an AI-native software development platform where natural-language intent, organized as an ontology, becomes the source code itself. The goal is to let employees across departments—product owners, analysts, compliance leads—create and evolve software in plain language while a governance layer keeps requirements, implementation, and organizational policies aligned.
