Google x MIT report: first insights on how scientists use AI, from Gemini logs
JMateosGarcia · x · 2026-09-16
The author shares the first output of project Zvi, "AI in Science - early insights," a joint study by Google and Google DeepMind with MIT FutureTech.
The report triangulates four data sources — Gemini usage logs, publications on specialized scientific models, a scientist survey, and a new scientific task taxonomy from MIT FutureTech — to characterize how scientists actually use AI in research. Contributors include danielrock, Atoosa, Neil Thompson and others across institutions.
