NVIDIA and Emerald AI show AI factories flexing grid power: 200 demand signals, all successful

NVIDIA's blog details an early real-world deployment of its DSX Flex vision: partner Emerald AI's Conductor grid-orchestration platform lets data centers adjust flexible compute workloads in response to utility demand signals, slowing or rescheduling deferrable jobs while critical AI services keep running.
On an August evening, Silicon Valley Power sent a signal and the AI factory's draw dropped from 4MW to 3MW — the first deployment across thousands of NVIDIA GPUs. The utility has since sent over 200 demand signals, and it worked every time. NVIDIA frames the effort as codesigning compute, networking, power, cooling and operations (DSX) to squeeze more tokens from every watt while making AI factories grid-friendly flexible loads.
