Marvell and Lumentum announced a merger to create a category leader in AI connectivity, combining complementary electrical and optical technologies for next-generation AI infrastructure. The deal is expected to produce a full-stack connectivity portfolio enabling end-to-end co-design and pre-validated optical solutions at volume, expanding the combined TAM to $550 billion. Analyst Ben Bajarin flags China as the likely regulatory hurdle and argues the real story is competition shifting toward vertically integrated co-design.
