Superdark Factory simulates agent code output ballooning 4,600x by 2029 as human review decays

An interactive dashboard artwork, The Superdark Factory, shows a single software company month by month from 2023 to 2029: agent output grows from 7.6B tokens/month in 2023 ("You authored every diff") to 35T tokens and 151M contributions per year by 2029, while the human role degrades from reading every diff to skimming to reading only summaries.

The accompanying paper (Poliks, Trillo, Dunn, Scott-Douglas, Springett, Antikythera/MIT Press, Sept 2026) calls this darkness: information that stays perfectly accessible and legible while ceasing to be useful, as full review gives way to sampled review and the approval gate becomes a formality.
